About Kibera

Donations provide daily food, education, and hope for children living in one of the most densely populated slums in the world.

  • The Kibera slum houses approximately 1 million people.
  • Kibera is a field, packed with huts made of tin, 6-10 people per hut, with human excrement running in the streets and walking paths.
  • Life expectancy in Kibera is a mere 30 years of age, compared to 50 years of age in the remainder of Kenya, and 78.7 years of age in the United States.
  • Half of all Kiberians are under the age of 15.
  • One out of five children do not live to see their 5th birthday.
  • 66% of girls in Kibera routinely trade sex for food by the age of 16, many beginning as early as 6 years of age.

"If a brother or sister is poorly clothed and lacking in daily food, and one of you says to them, “Go in peace, be warmed and filled,” without giving them the things needed for the body, what good is that? So also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead."  James 2:15-17 ESV
